The Cafe: A Radical adaption of The Stronger by August Strindberg

BOOK HERE

The Café, an adaptation of August Strindberg’s short play The Stronger, documents one woman’s personal journey with the play and her attempt to use radical adaptation to dispel the play’s inherent misogyny, challenge the male gaze, and reclaim the silent woman trope. Working in the Café’s imaginary kitchen, the woman and her female collaborators experiment with various of types of radical adaptation as they search for the perfect mixture ingredients to create a new recipe that cleanses the palate of misogyny and patriarchy and invites the audience to savour the play through a delicious feminist lens.
